What Happened To Denny On the Virgin River?
In the final episodes of the Virgin River Season 4, Doc’s grandson reveals that he has Huntington’s disease. As mentioned in the Huntington’s Disease Society of America, his condition is a fatal genetic disorder that causes the progressive breakdown of nerve cells in the brain.
This disease is quite not common in young adults like Denny, but it can happen, and in the case of this series, the clues were there all along. In his early interaction with Lizzie, he shows one of the symptoms -forgetfulness and impaired judgment, the example he did not remember telling Lizzie that theatre was not his thing.

Recently, in an interview with PureWow, he revealed that he first auditioned for another role of Markian Tarasiuk as Lizzie’s LA boyfriend. But he did not accomplish getting the part of Mark; however, shortly after the audition, he got invited to audition for Denny Cutler.

Doc’s Grandson, Denny Revealed His Secrets
The final episode of season 3 revealed that Denny is Doc’s grandson. This left all the fans wondering how is this possible, as Doc has made it clear that he never had any kids in the earlier episodes.
At the beginning of this new season, Denny explains to Doc that when he was about to begin medical school, Rose-his grandmother found out that she was pregnant with his son and broke up with Doc via a letter and never told him about the son he had. One month after the sudden death of his father (Doc’s son), he came to the Virgin River, and the end of his father made him realize how precious life is and that he wanted to be able to meet his grandpa before it was too late.
Later in the series, Doc catches Denny taking pictures of Doc’s medical files and going to a bank to move a large amount of money. When he was caught, he said he wanted to donate the money from the insurance policy of his dad’s death to pay off the mortgage of the clinic. The mystery continues when Lizzie finds a bottle of Klonopin in Denny’s Drawer.
