Tunde Williams aka Tunde Price was an owner of a hair salon. Despite having financial assistance from her sisters, she always wanted to pay her way in the world.
On September 14, 2003, she was chatting in an SUV with her boyfriend. Reportedly, two members of the Southside Compton Crips street gang were guarding the so-called trap house.
A few moments later, the gangsters opened fire on the SUV trying to defend the house from what they believed were rivals. During the incident, Tunde was shot and her partner didn’t realize it.
Later, he sped the car away and called emergency services. Eventually, Tunde was pronounced dead after reaching the hospital. Her cause of death was from a bullet wound in the head.
Months later, her murder trial revealed that she was innocent. Moreover, the prosecutor and the defense both agreed that neither Price nor her boyfriend was in the area to buy drugs.
After 20 years of the incident, the biopic movie King Richard has featured Tunde’s story. The film features the well-known actor Will Smith who portrays the role of Tunde’s dad.
