Sharon was born into a family of musicians so at a tender age she was exposed to the world of music. She began her career in music professionally performing with the band Melody makers, which was founded at the wishful request of their dad, Bob Marley, but only after his death did the band come into their own.
Their goal was close to that of their fathers, to bring people together through music. The band consists of four of Bob Marley’s ten sons, vocalist/guitarist Ziggy, vocalist/ guitarist/ drummer Stephen, vocalist Cedella and vocalist Sharon. Her young brother, Ziggy, was the leader of the unit, and Stephen also traded songwriting and lead vocals.
The band released more than ten songs, including their Grammy-winning albums “Conscious Band,” “One Bright Day” and “Fallen Is Babylon.” They received the number one smash “Tumblin’ Down” along with the other popular singles “Tomorrow Man,” “Everybody Wants to Be,” “Look Who’s Dancin” and “Strength to Push You.”
Following their world tour, the group disbanded in 2oo2. Today, Sharon frequently blends her skills on stage with the Caribbean organization Ghetto Youth United, the melody Makers. She also acts as the curator of the Bob Marley Museum. Additionally, she serves as Managing Director of the Total Care Learning Center (TCLC) on Lady Musgrave Road, Kingston, Jamaica.
