News: Who Is Seb Mckinnon MTG?
Seb McKinnon is a freelance illustrator, filmmaker, and musician based in Canada. He has worked on a lot of Magic: The Gathering cards.
He grew up in a creative family with four younger brothers in Montreal, Quebec. He studied illustration at Dawson College and graduated with a bachelor’s degree.
Aside from illustration, McKinnon and his brother, Ben, founded Five Knights Productions, a film production firm. Kin, a short film that won Best Cinematography honors at the Montreal Fantasia Film Festival and the Cyprus International Film Festival, was released in 2013.
Salvage and Requiem, two more short films rooted in the Kin Fables universe, were finished by the two McKinnon brothers in 2015. Seb and her brother Liam started working on Kin Fables: The Stolen Child, a Kin Fables feature film, after Ben died in 2016.
Seb has run two successful Kickstarter campaigns to raise funds for The Stolen Child, including playmats showcasing his Magic: The Gathering artwork as a reward for contributors.
