Kelly Overton Biography

Kelly Overton is an American actress who is known for her roles in TV dramas, True Blood, Beauty, and The Beast and Van Helsing. Furthermore, he has starred in films like The Ring Two and Tekken.

Kelly was born in  Wilbraham, Massachusetts, US. Not much is known of her family and siblings but she and studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City, where she graduated with their highest honor, The Charles Jehlinger Award.

Kelly has performed off-Broadway, in regional Shakespeare, and on several TV shows. She began on national television in 2000 in the role of Rainn Wilkins on several seasons of All My Children. Then in 2002 she returned to the theater on Broadway where she debuted in the original stage cast of The Graduate as an understudy for several roles, eventually replacing Alicia Silverstone in the role of Elaine Robinson, opposite Kathleen Turner and Jason Biggs.

After five years in New York she moved to Los Angeles, where she has worked in film and TV. In 2008, with husband Judson Pearce Morgan, she wrote, directed, produced and starred in The Collective. She plays Christie Monteiro in the 2009 film adaptation of the fighting game series Tekken. She recently appeared in the HBO series True Blood as werewolf Rikki Naylor. In 2016 Overton was cast as “Vanessa Helsing” the lead character, in the Syfy television series, Van Helsing.

Kelly plays Vanessa Helsing in SyFy’s “Van Helsing”. She is humanity’s last hope to lead an offensive to take back what has been lost in a post-Rising world, as her unique blood composition gives her the ability to turn vampires human. As she searches for her daughter Dylan, she must fend off the vampires who see her as a threat to their very existence.

Vanessa is tough, brave, and often fearless, especially when it comes to protecting those that she cares about. She is also kind and compassionate enough to help total strangers as well, saving a group of survivors from a couple of ferals and sending them to the hospital for protection and medical care. She shows no fear when facing vampires, and tends to go into an animalistic rage when physically struck.

She Portrays “Christie Monteiro” in the 2010 action Movie “Tekken”. Christie gets trained by her grandfather in a variety of martial arts styles. He lets her participate in numerous organized fights and makes her a champion. She eventually gets qualified for The Iron Fist Tournament. During the training, she meets Jin who is new to organized fighting.

She gets impressed after he wins his first fight. Watching him train she takes him to a club and the two dance and chat. They eventually end up kissing in the exercise room. She mentions she needs to go and leaves the room. She hears Jin getting attacked and returns. The door is locked and she breaks it open which scares the assailants away. She helps injured Jin back to his trainer.

At the next fight, she tells Jin to stay near the cameras as they will not try to kill him while being broadcasted. She gets matched up against Nina Williams, who Jin recognizes as one of his attackers. Christie engages the assassin in the match. Nina tries to trap her in a joint lock which Christie manages to escape. Christie lets her know she is aware that Nina tried to kill Jin, after which Nina says she likes him. After a hard fight, Christie knocks Nina out and wins.

Christie watches as Jin fights the master swordsman Yoshimitsu. Jin is unable to match Yoshimitsu and is about to be killed. The alarm goes off and Yoshimitsu is long enough distracted for Jin to escape the killer blow. Yoshimitsu keeps beating Jin who suddenly spots an opening and beats Yoshimitsu. Christie helps injured Jin however they all get captured by the Jacks.

Raven helps them put Jin his shoulder back in his socket. Kazuya they all will fight to the death from now on. The group decides to flee and quickly take out the guards. They free a captured Heihachi on their way out. They go in hiding as Christie nurtures injured Jin. The group gets found by a group of Jacks. They tried to fight them off however Steve Fox gets killed and Christie and the rest get captured.

Kazuya announces to the audience the remaining fights will fight to the death. Kazuya taunts Jin and Christie and explains that he killed his mom. Kazuya threatens to torture Christie if Jin will not fight Bryan Fury. She is forced to watch as Jin fights Bryan. Unable to match the power of the cyborg Jin is barely able to survive. He finds a weak spot with the teachings of his mom and manages to take out the cyborg and kill him.

An enraged Kazuya comes down and fights Jin using two axes. Jin gets knocked down and is about to get killed. Christie takes a gun and kills the Jacks guarding her. This distracts Kazuya long enough for Jin to recover and disarm and injured Kazuya. Christie raises Jin his arm and says he is the champion. Christie explains that after his win the name Kazama became associated with freedom. However, the world did not know this was just the beginning.

Kelly Overton True Blood

Kelly plays “Rikki Naylor” in HBO’s True Blood. Rikki Naylor was a werewolf on the HBO original series True Blood. Played by American guest starring actress Kelly Overton, Rikki made her debut on the episode “And When I Die”, at the end of the series’ fourth season, appearing only in wolf form. A member of the Shreveport, Louisiana pack of wolves, Rikki plays a recurring role through the series’ fifth and sixth seasons, and was last seen in the Season 6 episode “Dead Meat”.
