On December 19, Andrew Hintt, 31, and his two sons, Benjamin, 7, and Sebastian, 5, were discovered dead in their house. The two boys’ mother, Hintt’s fiancé, saw Alize Smith for the first time since her family was killed on Wednesday at his bond hearing.
Three victims were in their Belvidere house in the 600 block of Union Avenue, according to Belvidere police.
After hearing from the children’s mother, who lives in a different house, and learning that she hadn’t heard from her family, Hintt’s landlord called 911. On Sunday night, the bodies and four shell casings were discovered by police. Police reported that they had not found the weapon.
The fatalities are being looked into as a triple homicide, Belvidere Police Chief Shane Woody stated at a press conference.

Alize Smith was accused of three first-degree murders by the Belvidere Police Department on Wednesday. Smith is being jailed in the Boone County Jail while police continue to search for a stolen car that may be connected to the killings.
