Many patients claim that Dr Christopher Duntsch intentionally botched multiple surgeries.
However, during his prosecution, his lawyers argued that after 17 years of research and training he would never have done such a sinister act.
Duntsch was able to persuade his patients that he was “the greatest” in his specialty by telling them that he was “the best.”
Other neurosurgeons such as Matt Goodman have described such incidents a ‘never events’, blaming Duntsch for his malpractices.
Goodman says: “They shouldn’t ever happen in someone’s entire career. And yet they occurred in Duntsch’s operating rooms over a period of just two years.”
On February 20, 2017, Duntsch was sentenced to life in prison.
Dr Christopher Duntsch Patients Death Updates So Far
Until today, two of Dr Christopher Duntsch’s patients have died. He is also accused of injuring 33 out of 38 patients in less than two years.
Between 2011 and 2013, Duntsch operated on 37 patients in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Out of those patients, two of the patients; Floella Brown and Kelli Martin were killed.
Brown died from a stroke after Duntsch severed her vertebral artery. While Martin died from blood loss during the back operation.
At present, 31 patients of his patients have been experiencing nerve damage, chronic pain, and even paralysis after their surgeries.
One of Duntsch’s friends Jerry Summers woke up from surgery unable to move his arms or legs. His vertebral artery has been completely damaged.
Barry Mongoloff now requires a wheelchair after he was left with bone fragments in his spinal canal. He does not feel the left side of his body.

Dr Christopher Duntsch was never married to his girlfriend, Wendy Renee Young. At present, she is keeping reportedly keeping a low-profile life.
The couple, however, does share two sons together. Prior to Christopher’s imprisonment, the pair were living at the W Hotel, Texas.
Young and Duntsch first met in a Memphis, Tennessee, beauty store in 2011.
At present, Wendy Renee Young is living with her new boyfriend and kids as a stay-home mom in Fort Worth.
