David Gallagher, a 2020 Dartmouth College graduate who played lacrosse, died Sunday after being injured on Hanover’s rocky embankment beneath the Ledyard Bridge.

David, 24, was working as an analyst for an asset management firm in Los Angeles when he returned to Dartmouth. He attended his commencement ceremony, which had been postponed due to the pandemic, with Gallagher graduating in 2020.

He was a star lacrosse player and fraternity member at the Ivy League school. He has also held positions at Bane Realty Capital, HFF, and JLL.

Moreover, Gallagher is listed as attending Downington High School in Pennsylvania and taking courses at the prestigious University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.

Authorities said Gallagher, a Pennsylvania native, was in town with his family for his delayed Class of 2020 commencement ceremony. The green college flag on the Dartmouth campus will be lowered in honor of Gallagher on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to The Dartmouth. Dartmouth spokeswoman Diana Lawrence told Boston.com that the university is mourning its deceased student.

They also stated that at Dartmouth, Gallagher was a member of the varsity men’s lacrosse team and the Theta Delta Chi fraternity.

What Happened To The Lacrosse Player?

Gallagher was found critically injured beneath a Ledyard Bridge on West Wheelock Street on the University of New Hampshire campus around 2 a.m. on Sunday, the weekend of the celebration. The bridge is well-known for being the location of a notorious Dartmouth challenge in which students swim across the Connecticut River below and then run across the bridge.

He was taken to a nearby hospital, but he died soon after. Officials have launched an investigation to determine what happened, but Lieutenant Michael Schibuola believes it was a “horrible accident” caused by alcohol, and no criminal charges are expected.

According to Hanover Police Lieutenant Michael G. Schibuola, Gallagher’s death was a “horrible accident” that may have involved alcohol. Gallagher’s friends called 911 on Monday to report that he was seriously injured on an embankment near the Ledyard Bridge, which has historically been a gathering spot for students. 

Schibuola stated, “We’re not sure how he sustained the injuries that led to his death.” ” We’re looking into it.” We do not anticipate any criminal charges, and full autopsy results are not expected for several weeks.

David was born to his father, Michael, and mother, Marea Gallagher. He grew up along with his sister.
